10 Steps to a Successful Career Change
Step Nine: Try developing new skills in your present position which could pave the way for a change. Choose something that is valued in your new field, ie mentoring... Offer to help with this. And if your organization offers employee training, take advantage of this and register for the class.
Step Ten: Try alternative roles if you are in a current position and you don't want to continue doing what you are doing, ie, a programmer, see if something in the technical department has something that interests you.
